Remote Desktop from Windows XP to Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista

Remote Desktop in Windows XP Professional provides remote access to the desktop of your computer running Windows XP Professional, from a computer at another location. Using Remote Desktop you can, for example, connect to your office computer from home and access all your applications, files, and network resources as though you were in front of your computer at the office.

From Windows XP machine will not be able to remote logon to windows 2008 servers. Windowx xp with sp3 will not allow remote login to windows 2008 servers.

To fix this problem follow these steps

• Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
• In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa
• In the details pane, right-click Security Packages, and then click Modify.
• In the Value data box, type tspkg. Leave any data that is specific to other SSPs, and then click OK.
• In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSecurityProviders
• In the details pane, right-click SecurityProviders, and then click Modify.
• In the Value data box, type credssp.dll. Leave any data that is specific to other SSPs, and then click OK.
• Exit Registry Editor.

Restart the computer
