Why Hibernation is disabled by default in Windows 10?
In Windows 10 a new feature added called Turn on Fast startup which is recommended setting. This feature boots up the computer fast and also turn OFF faster. Due to this feature Hibernation feature is disabled.
When to Enable Hibernation in Windows 10?
Hibernate consumes less power compared to sleep mode, and can start up again and continue to work where you left it last. Hibernation is useful when you don’t use laptop or tablet for a longer period and do not charge the battery during that period.
How to Turn ON Hibernation in Windows 10 Computer?
In Search bar Type in Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings. Enable Hibernate, then save settings.
Click on Start , and then select Power > Hibernate. Built in Shortcut Key Method is Press Windows logo key + X on your keyboard, and then select Shut down or sign out > Hibernate.
How to enable Hibernation in Windows 10 using Registry Editor?
- click the Start menu and search for βRegeditβ
- Drill down to this path
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPower
- On Right window Double-click on key named βHibernateEnabledDefaultβ.
- Change the value data from β0β to β1β if you want to enable the Hibernate option on your computer. To disable, change the value from 1 to 0.
- Once done, click on the OK button and then restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Enabling Hibernation in Windows 11
In Windows 11 the hibernation feature is retained and setting remains the same as mention above for Windows 10, there are no changes in steps and in command line. You can follow same steps for Windows 11 and apply the same.
